I wrote more assembly code in 2024 than any other language. I wrote a lot of tools in python and HTML5 but was mostly using AI to for writing. Actual hand written code was 99% asm for x86 CPUs.
Why in the hell I would use assembly in modern days?
At first it was just a curiosity and a challenge. Once I started digging more into it I got hooked.
Inspired by the demo scene I always wanted to make a very small game, like 64KB in size. It seams like impossible task at the time.
TBC:
- what flavor?
- why x86?
- why 16bit?
